Lost Ruins
Inspired by my previous Cathedral project. The idea was to create and capture a surreal and somber feeling.

Breakdown
When I was given a chance to create any type of environment, the first thought that came to mind was snow. Not knowing what exactly I wanted to do, but still knowing that whatever came out of it was going to be a snowy environment. I went back a fourth between ideas of a simple cabin in the woods to what ended up being done.
I took this chance to create a small church that had long been forgotten over the years. I wanted to create a feeling of somberness with a hint of mystery. When I am not at my desk working I spend my time outside and going on hikes. This was my main inspiration as I remember coming across ruins right around sunset on one of my many hikes.



Material
The stone materials were made using Substance Designer and they served as a base for most of the painting that was done in Substance Painter. I created two different versions of the stone to allow for variation; as some areas are more weathered than others.
